World Food Program warns of the food situation in Tajikistan: sharp rise in prices for potatoes and flour in some regions

The World Food Program observes a significant increase in food prices at different market places in Tajikistan. Its report on the weekly prices April 20-24th, the WFP stated that commodities such as chicken, meat, salt, tea, wheat and wheat flour are in “crisis”, while onions, potatoes, rice, maize and beans are in alert status.

In market places such as in Gharm, the cost of potatoes has witnessed a 68% increase in comparison to the previous week, while an approximate 10% increase on rice and wheat flour prices have been observed in different places in the country.
